Thanks, Ralf. The Barbapapa family is made of fondant/sugar paste – the figures are edible! Really easy to shape – it’s like working with Play-Doh. You may wish to transform them into fun birthday objects, too, like a cake, presents, balloons, etc, which I intended to do but ran out of time. Your best bet is purchasing a tub of ready-made fondant, such as SatinIce, Choco-Pan or Pettinice, and food-safe dyes in the respective colors – a website I like for these is intotheoven.com. Make sure to give yourselves plenty of time solely for cake decorating – at least a day. It always takes longer than expected but it is so much FUN! Congratulations to the b-day boy and good luck!

OMG - I downloaded some Barbapapa from youtube to my Moto-Q and now my soon to be 2 year old is completely fascinated with it, so last night we had the idea of doing a "Barbapapa B-day" for him.

How do I make a cake like this? Where did you get the figures?

Thnx in advance!
